No I am not quitting with my blog!!! You wish! We are going for a week away on vacation. This time it will be Dubai. The place of contradictions with the desert against skyscrapers and biggest malls, but also a country which is very controversial regarding religion and sexuality. Two gays going to a country where actually gay men or at least gay activities are not allowed!!! Why are we going??
Well we don’t want to be put in a box and stay in it, we are human beings and have the right to explore the sometimes narrow-minded world. My boyfriend and I aren’t the ones, who want to show ourselves off as gays all the time. We just are who we are and not ashamed of it. We like to be respected and want to give that respect back. Therefore you have to adjust yourself to the situation and places that you visit and show them that we are no special creations, crazy creatures and we are definitely no faults of Mother Nature.
There is so much to see in this world and everybody tries to fit in somewhere (or in someone LOL). Dubai has a lot to show and this time of the year it is still very hot, so the first thing after arriving at our hotel is going to the Beach and looking at all those buff men out there. We are only going for a week, but we have planned a lot of stuff already to fill it all. Sky Tea at Burj Al Arab, Aqua adventure at Palm Island, Dubai Mall and Jumeirah Beach. We adore next to sunbathing at the beach (and checking out the goods) to explore the city and seeing all the beauty of it.
We have friends who have been there already several times, but also good friends Miro and Steven living there and they gave us already an inside of what to expect. Boy we got more and more excited already!!! It is actually gay-friendly to a point, where they even have a gay beach. (Well one place in the sand where most guys are strutting their stuff and not being our fantasy Oasis) The only thing it’s not promoted as Gay, because that’s not allowed. Everybody knows it’s there, but not saying it out loud.
Our friend who lives there came out as gay to his family and friends and they respected that. So not everyone is offended by it, you just have to respect their culture. Showing your emotions and affections are not done in public. What would you expect if the distinction between men and women is there very present. They even have special days where only women and children can sit in the park and having Pink cabs only driving women around. Yes “manly” gays I know that should really be our transportation, but what can we do? Dress up like woman? Not really my style and with all those high heels having to put in my holiday suitcase I would be over the carrying limit. ;-)
Don’t also worry about the stories that they will check you at the airport to see if you’re gay by taking your blood or checking your background. It’s all made up by the media, although I don’t mind a good strip search by a handsome airport police officer LOL….
So we are gone for a week, but if you follow our Facebook page or twitter, you still will be updated about the PINK in our lives and maybe about our adventures ;0) After we get back we got some delayed stories/interviews/reviews from shows, the Pink Shower Blasts and off course everything about Pink Dubai and the wonderful places of interest for you!!!
Have a Pink (holi)day

He was there next to Glee star Amber Riley who performed the national anthem with the Gay men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. Before the game Jason hung also out with openly gay singer Lance Bass from NSYNC.
Hunky Spanish actor Paco Leon tweeted a full frontal pic of himself on the beach, because of his promise to his fans. When he reach one million followers on twitter he gives his fans a warm welcome this week and the cold water did not hold him back. Kudos for keeping his promise and I think he will get more followers now… ;-)
Best wedding proposal of this week:
Transgender Cassidy Lynn Campbell, who was crowned Homecoming Queen at her southern California High school in September, struck a pose against bullying for the NOH8 campaign for photographer Adam Bouska.
Christiano Ronaldo gets his own underwear line!! NY based-designer Richard Chai created the CR7 underwear line with co-operation of Cristiano. David Beckham, you got competition and we don’t mind because like David also Christiano will be the model for his underwear.
Pasta maker Buitoni USA and Bertolli pasta posted a picture on facebook separating itself from rival Barilla and its anti-gay worldview. Bertolli says pasta and love is for all and wanted to spread the news that they welcome everybody, especially those with an empty stomach. Great action and very appropriate.
Michelle Rodriquez tells Entertainment Weekly magazine that she is bisexual. For some not surprising, but telling it publicly is another thing. “I don’t talk about what I do with my vagina, and they are all intrigued. I’ve never walked the red carpet with anyone, so everybody wonders: “what does she do with her vagina? Plus I play a butchy girl all the time, so they assume I’m a lesbo”. She tells that she has gone both ways. She does as she pleases and she is too F*cking curious to sit and not try when she can. “Men are intriguing and so are chicks”
‘I’m disappointed in you as a daughter. You’re correct that we have a “shame in the family”, but mistaken about what it is. Kicking Chad out of your home simply because he told you he was gay is the real “abomination” here. A parent disowning her child is what goes “against nature”. The only intelligent thing I heard you saying in all this was that “you didn’t raise your son to be gay”. Of course you didn’t. He was born this way and didn’t chase it any more than he being left-handed. You however, have made a choice of being hurtful, narrow-minded and backward. So, while we are in the business of disowning our children, I think I’ll take this moment to say goodbye to you. I now have a fabulous (as the gays put it) grandson to raise, and I don’t have time for a heartless B-word of a daughter. If you find your heart, give us a call’
Hello Pink B*ches. Yes, I know it has been awhile, but I was on holiday, putting my butt up in the sun, enjoying cold fresh drinks and the lots of … Continue reading OLA GUAPO!!!
Zippy and Hot is how Entertainment weekly described the movie SHELTER, when it came out in 2007/2008. Pink In Our Lives is interested in everything for you that has a gay theme or is gay- related. So I am gonna give you occasionally some recommendations to watch or let you know about a movie, series or show to look for and tell about their performers here something too on my blog.
The movie Shelter is one of those movies that you have to see. It is an entertaining and compelling movie and beautifully filmed. Out Magazine named it “ an instant classic”, Gay.com named it “one of the best gay films to come around in that year” and the Miami Herald named it “one of the best screen romances in 2008”.
The movie is about Zach is an aspiring artist living in San Pedro, California, who has put off his dreams of going to art school in order to work and help his older sister Jeanne, his disabled father, and his five-year-old nephew Cody (Jackson Wurth). Working as a short-order cook to make ends meet, Zach escapes during his free time to paint, draw murals, surf, and hang out with his best friend Gabe, as well as with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Tori.
When Gabe’s older brother Shaun comes back home from Los Angeles for a few weeks, Zach and Shaun develop a close friendship as they go surfing together. Shaun, who is a published writer, encourages Zach to take control of his life and pursue his ambition of going to CalArts, a large university of the arts. One night after drinking Zach and Shaun share a kiss; however, Zach is not prepared to give in to his feelings immediately. Nevertheless, their friendship soon develops into a romance, while at the same time Shaun builds a strong bond with Cody.
When Jeanne learns that Zach has been spending time with Shaun, she warns Zach that Shaun is gay and to keep Cody away from him. Though his sister is reluctant to accept that Zach himself might be gay, both Gabe and Tori are supportive. Zach and Shaun’s relationship is then strained by his sense of obligation to support his family versus his relationship with Shaun and his desire to pursue his own dreams. Zach is confused as to what he really wants.
Shaun secretly submits Zach’s art school application, and Zach is eventually accepted on full scholarship. When Jeanne’s boyfriend Alan gets a job in Portland, requiring her to move and leave Cody behind with Zach, Zach is forced to decide between putting others first and neglecting his own dreams – as he has always done – and fighting for what he truly wants, both for himself and Cody. He finally discovers that affirming his love for Shaun and going forward with his art career ends up providing the best solution to his dilemma. The film ends with a scene of Zach, Shaun, and Cody playing together on the beach as a family.
The main character Zach is played by Trevor Wright. Trevor is born on the 23rd of August 1982 and played in several series like NYPD Blue, Boston Public, Scrubs, Roswell and CSI: New York. Besides the movie Shelter he also played in Airbuddies, Vacancy 2 and in The Social Network.
His love interest Shaun is played by Brad Rowe, who is born on the 15th of May 1970. He played in many series like Outer Limits, Pacific Blue, Wasteland and General Hospital. His movie credits are Body Shots, Lucky 7, National Treasure, Shelter off course and his first gay-themed movie Hollywood’s Screen Kiss with Sean Hayes (famous off course from the show Will & Grace).
Gabe, the best friend of Zach is played by Ross Thomas. Ross is born on the 21th of August in 1981. He is known for his guest roles in Cold Case, Lie to me, General Hospital and CSI: New York and from the movies Lip Service, Dance Flick, American Pie: The Naked Mile and off course Shelter.
Gabe has a girlfriend in the movie called Tori and is played by Katie Walder (13 October 1992). Her movie credits are Shelter, Safe Harbour and Cupid, but she did many guest roles in series like Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, All My Children, How I met your mother, The Good Wife, Grimm, CSI Miami and The Mentalist.
Shelter was the winner of “Outstanding Film – Limited Release” at the 2009 GLAAD Media Awards, Best New Director and Favorite Narrative Feature at the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, and the People’s Choice Award for Best Feature at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.
Shelter is a boy meets boy story with lots of difficulties with coming out and family, but it captures the beauty, thrill and ache of young love. Asuperb performance by Trevor Wright in the lead role, a strong supporting cast, very good cinematography and, most of all, emotional authenticity. I love especially in particular Trevor Wright’s restrained and delicately balanced performance as the beating heart of the film from the start. Off course the shirtless, wet scenes on the beach or the beautiful love making between Zach and Shaun will make you watch the movie too LOL.
So watch Shelter and tell me what you think!!!!
Have a Pink watching day.
