A stunning Pride-themed stained glass window has been installed at Belfast City Hall in celebration of the cityâs LGBTQ+ community.
Taking to Instagram, Belfast City Hall wrote: âCheck out our latest colorful addition to the City Hall â a new stained glass window marking the contribution of our cityâs LGBTQ+ community. It was unveiled today after being installed earlier this week and attracted quite a crowd this lunchtime.â
The post added: âThe window is packed with visual nods to the communityâs development over the years, including significant moments and various campaigns for equality. Find it on the ground floor, in our main reception area, alongside out other artwork windows, all offering insight into Belfastâs story over the years.â
A video accompanying the post shows the window, which was designed with input from the LGBTQ+ community, in all its rainbow glory, with the text âPrideâ featured at the top.
Further messages on the window include âGive us our rose while weâre still hereâ â a phrase used by the trans community, particularly on Trans Day of Remembrance â and âmarriage equalityâ.
The post has been flooded with positive support, with one comment reading, âAbsolutely beautiful,â while another agreed that the window was âbrilliantâ.
