LEGENDARY SEASON 2 HAS FAMOUS HEAVY HITTERS! #pinkinourlives #vogue

Series Legendary from HBO MAX returned to celebrate the ballroom culture. Legendary Season 2 once again brings back the safe heaven for the LGBTQ community, primarily black and Latinx people. Legendary is a voguing reality competition TV series. The show explores the world of ball culture. Legendary’s first season of eight episodes premiered on May 27, 2020. The series mainly follows the Black and Latino LGBTQ community predominantly from eight houses. The participants are judged as per their dancing, Voguing, walking skills. However, the group which wins gets the prize of 100,000 US $. The first season of the show had the winner from House of Balmain with House of Lanvin being the runner-up.

Meanwhile, Voguing is a competition style of modern dance featuring high fashion. The choreography is based on the poses struck by models. The leader of each house in the series is called ‘parent.’ The series has been executively produced by David Collins, Rob Eric, and Michael Williams of Scout Productions.

The show features the judges’ panel, packed with names we love (and maybe love to hate): Leiomy Maldonado, Megan Thee Stallion, Law Roach, and Jameela Jamil. The guest judges are a pretty hefty lineup as well with Taraji P. Henson, Adam Lambert, Nico Annan, Demi Lovato, Normani, Amiyah Scott, and Tiffany Haddish.

This season, the houses are also filled with some heavy-hitters. Ballroom has gone in and out of the mainstream over the past decade, meaning that for some of the house members this isn’t their first time in the spotlight. Here are seven house members from season 2 of Legendary you might have seen before — or should absolutely be aware of now.

Though he’s the Overall Mother of the House of Prodigy, Jacen Bowman has also made a name for himself doing makeup for celebrities, weddings, and women in general. He’s worked with Lupita Nyong’o, Phylicia Rashad, Tyson Beckford, Nene Leakes, Porsha Williams, and more through his company Shades of Jacen.

Within ballroom, he’s become an icon, predominately walking the category of face.

Known to many as Japanesefaces, in addition to being a dancer, Simone is a celebrity makeup artist. She has worked with celebrities like Teyana Taylor, Tamar Braxton, Remy Ma, and Eva Marcille amongst others. She’s worked most closely with Taylor and when Taylor began to perform her track “WTP,” Simone was a featured dancer at concerts

Though you may have seen a clip of Omari going viral for revoking a chop at a kiki ball, the dancer is also a noted choreographer. This month he premiered his work New York Is Burning for Works & Process at the Guggenheim. The piece features his dance company Les Ballets Afrik which incorporates a dance style Omari has been developing on his own called AfrikFusion. It utilizes aspects of West African Dance (Omari is from Senegal) and elements of voguing.

Omari is a legend within the ballroom scene and founded the House of Nina Oricci, of which he is the overall father.

Many got their first introduction to Legendary emcee Dashaun Wesley and judge Leiomy Maldonado when they appeared on America’s Best Dance Crew a part of the team Vogue Evolution. Another key member: Prince Miyake-Mugler. Since then Prince has made a name for himself the world over teaching and choreographing, focusing on a softer style of vogue performance than some of his counterparts.

Within the scene, he is a legend for performance.

Known to some as The People’s Princess, Tati made her biggest splash outside the scene as a star of VICELAND’s show My House. That series, followed the performer for a few months in 2018 as she left the House of Miyake-Mugler in search of another. A year after the show premiered, she returned to Miyake-Mugler ut her time on the series saw her travel to places like South America to perform, in addition to fronting campaigns and even getting named to the 2018 Out100 list.

In the kiki scene, Tati is the Overall Mother of the House of Juicy Couture.

Legendary fans will likely recognize Honey from season one. In a supervillains-themed episode, Honey and Lolita 007 battled against Pack-Rat and Makayla Lanvin, snatching $10,000 in cash. After her time on set, Honey (and Makayla) became close with Megan Thee Stallion, appearing in one of her videos, and has also gone on to sign to Bella Thorne’s content consulting agency. This comes in addition to Honey’s clips often going viral on social media.

If you are a fan of drag pageantry, you undoubtedly know Stasha Garcon — although you may know her under the name Stasha Sanchez. She has countless crowns under her belt — that’s Miss Black Universe, Miss America, Miss Gay USofA, Miss North America, and Miss Continental — as well as has raised quite a number of other performers. In case you’re wondering, Stasha founded the drag house that RuPaul’s Drag Race season two winner, James William Ross (formerly known as Tyra Sanchez) came from. Stasha was her drag grandmother.

Within ballroom she is an icon and Hall of Famer, the most lauded title one can receive in the scene.
