Mr. Gay Germany 2023 Lukas is stepping down!
Last weekend Lukas Küchen wrote down the following message on his Instagram:
“I would like to inform you that I am resigning from my position as MrGayGermany. The past few months have been an emotional rollercoaster ride for me, and I realized that the title also brought with it a lot of negative experiences. Invading my apartment has shown me that some people don’t stop at borders and that I can no longer even feel safe in my own four walls. While I’m aware that a person has more to say about themselves in public, clear lines have been crossed regarding my privacy since receiving my title. The wickedness and actions of some people, such as stalking and deliberately breaking into my home, are unacceptable. My safety and above all my mental health are more important to me than life in public. For this reason I am resigning from the office of MrGayGermanys. I know that even without this title, I can still contribute to increasing community acceptance and visibility and work on my projects. Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the past few months. I appreciate every single experience and every encounter I was allowed to have as MrGayGermany. Let’s be nice to each other and stand up for each other.” 
The perp broke in his apartment and did not stole expensive items, but just threw everything upside down and spread his personal belongings all ove rthe place. It is a terryfing thought that somebody gets in your own safe place and jthe goal is just to invade your privacy and make you feel scared and vulnerable.
We have met him in Amsterdam a few weeks ago at 15 years OutTv celebration. He was still there as Mr. Gay Germany 2023 with his sash and we could never have foreseen he had to take this difficult decision. It is sad to see that he could not finish his reigning year, because of this burglary, hate and feeling unsafe. 
We wish him all the best and especially with his projects like JOYN for visibility and acceptance.
