Hello Pink B*ches. Yes, I know it has been awhile, but I was on holiday, putting my butt up in the sun, enjoying cold fresh drinks and the lots of sexy men in Barcelona and Sitges. And it would not be me, if I not tried to share this with you all and make you jealous…… ;o)
Barcelona is a great city in Spain and has a great gay culture besides all the fine architecture, museums, lots of restaurants, bars and shopping areas. You have to visit this city at least for 5 days to see most of it. Spanish men have good looks and on the (gay) beach it seems that there isn’t one guy, who has no great abs or muscles. Me like, me like!!! For every gay men you will find your taste and with the good weather, the men will be showing around their stuff. Mostly off course in the Spanish brand ES collection.
On the first day it was all about leaving Amsterdam airport and arriving at Barcelona airport around 15.00 foor me, my boyfriend Rene and a good friend of us Jaap. Trying to get to the Axel Hotel ( a straight friendly hotel LOL) and checking in with the sun already on our faces. Finally we have got summer.
Around 8PM we went into the city to grab a bite to eat in the Arena ( A big shopping mall) and afterwards we went to the Magic Fountain at Plaza Espanja. This special event starts thursday till sunday late in the evening around 22.00 and gives you a fantastic light and sound spectacle. If you have the chance you have to visit this. When we got back to the hotel we thought we were going for one drink at our skybar on the roof of our hotel, but it ended with going clubbing in the Black Room till 4 AM ;p
Day 2: shop till we drop in and around the streets of the Ramblas. What else did you expect? It is rebajas everywhere in this period, which means shopping and having money left over for those fine cocktails. We ate tapas in Saffron for lunch and we had dinner in menage à trois…..Definitely a name of a restaurant that we could appreciate LOL.
Day 3: visiting Parc Quell and in the afternoon we were invited to a beach in Caldes by friends, so they drove us there by car and we had a pink party on the beach with pink balloons , lots of food (even cupcakes ) and sangria!!! 😉 At night it was party at our skybar again and after that we went to Metro (stripper night) LOL
Day 4: after the hangover we went to the rooftop of our Axel hotel to relax, sunbath and swim. Lunch at Sagardi ( definitely recommended, nice tapas and friendly fast working staff). Around 8PM we visited La Sagrada Familia and after that we went to Place Reial for tapas at Ocaña.
Day 5: trying to be a real tourist today. Yes these gays took de Barcelona Turistic Bus and we drove all over Barcelona: From Place de Catalunya till Tibibado, from Parc Mjuic till Port Vell, from Camp Nou till Poble Espanyol. This tour is very good to see a lot of stuff in one day and although divas don’t do public transport, it is better than getting blisters on your feet from walking in this heat!! Off course we did it in style with a nice frozen strawberry daiquri cocktail on the side. Later in the evening we had dinner again at Saffron, because it has great food for a good price (and it is close to our hotel) Then we went to our rooftop bar again (It is a popular bar with good music and cute people) and drink some more with the many gay friends we have met there. Also two friends Carlos and Peter from Belgium just arrived in Barcelona and joined the party on our rooftop.
Day 6: After all the drinks and the little sleep we had over the last days, we decided to rest at the pool today and only went out the hotel for a late lunch, evening shopping at Diagonal and dinner. Sometimes we need a beauty sleep too, so this time we went to bed before 03.00 am LOL
Day 7: we did some early morning shopping at the Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia. Visiting the market with all the foods and drinks, so many choices. You have to go there when you visit Barcelona, because you will find different fruits, meat, candy and so much more. Expensive, but fingerlicking good. 😉 Afterwards more tanning at our rooftop pool and having our last evening dinner with friends in a good restaurant in Barcelona. Tapas again, because off course we are in Spain and we like to share LOL. It was great to eat the final night with the friends we have met during this week.
Day 8 is the last day in Barcelona and bringing us to the second part of our vacation: Sitges. The Axel Hotel is a great hotel to stay in, especially for us gays. Very clean, all the supplies you need, even your condoms on your first arrival day and a friendly staff (They make sure your stay is very pleasant with all their masseurs. That is important and I should know because as you remember I am the head of the reception in a hotel)
For my next post I will let you know all about Sitges, but for now you will have enough recommendations and suggestions to shop, eat and party. I probably have still missed some spots in this great city. Need to come back again for sure.
Enjoy your trip to Barcelona in the future and have a Rosada (Pink) day.
Big kiss,
Lesley
Excellent post, and I must agree it’s a wonderful city. Ivan
Thank you Ivan. Glad you like it. It is a great city and with such a good weather it is a good start of a vacation. Have a great summer!!!! xoxo
