A โrecovering bigotโ has been praised for giving out free hugs at a Pride parade.
The man was seen at Denverโs Pride in Colorado in June, wearing a rainbow garland and holding a sign that read, โRecovering bigot. I am sorry. Free hugs.โ
A TikTok user captured several hugs between him and other Pride-goers.
โTo own up to your discriminatory beliefs and say: โI hear you, I see you, and Iโm sorryโ, is top tier. Everyone could learn something here,โ the TikTok user said.

Several other people added that they had also previously held anti-LGBTQ+ views, and that the manโs show of support was inspiring, with one saying: โWelcome to the good side, sir.โ
Another said: โI was raised ultra-conservative and didnโt start having my own views and letting myself see more than one side until about a decade agoโฆ Iโm sobbing.โ
A photo of the manโs sign made it on to Twitter, where one user explained that Pride is a โperfect opportunity [to] make amendsโ.
For many Christians, #Pride month is a perfect opportunity to workout oneโs confession and repentance muscles. A friend in Denver sent me this photo of a โrecovering bigotโ making flesh-on-flesh amends with the children of God he once maligned pic.twitter.com/vWTgDTfIqi
