Rugby League player Keegan Hirst is the first British professional in the code to openly say he is gay after being married and having two kids, but he gets naked too!!! ;o)
Respected Rugby Player Keegan, reveals the secret torment of dealing with his sexuality while carving out a career in one of the world’s most macho sports. Speaking exclusively to the Sunday Mirror, the dad of two tells of the moment he finally found the words to explain to his wife the reason they could no longer be together. And he talks emotionally of the support he got, not only from her, but also from his rugby team-mates. The 6ft 4in captain of West Yorkshire side Batley Bulldogs said: “At first I couldn’t even say ‘I’m gay’ in my head, let alone out loud. Now I feel like I’m letting out a long breath that I’ve held in for a long time.”
Speaking for the first time about coming to terms with being gay, Keegan adds: “I had a wife and kids. I’ve been a builder, doorman, worked in factories I play rugby. I tick every macho box. How could I be gay? I’m from Batley for goodness sake. No one is gay in Batley.” And he reveals: “The only time I felt free of the torment was when I stepped on the rugby pitch. Now I feel free.”
Keegan hopes his decision to be open will help others in the sport who might be fighting 
with their emotions. The Yorkshireman, who started his career at Bradford Bulls Academy, said he knew he had to be honest with his wife after he realized she blamed herself for their marriage break-up. Days after Keegan Hirst became the first British rugby league player to come out, he reveals for us a naked photo for charity with his teammate Joe Chandler. The Batley Bulldogs captain stripped off to raise money for this year’s naked calendar. Wouldn’t you love to be that Rugby Ball and doesn’t it make this sexy macho even more adorable now?! ;o)
CONGRATULATIONS to Keegan for being so strong for coming out in this macho sports profession. Although he says he has never been out as “a gay guy on the pull” and that he doesn’t “know yet how these things work”, I think he will have no trouble getting into the swing of it.

Think it through guys— if you are a big macho (gay) rugby player 90% of guys are going to think twice before saying anything anyway. If you were going to bully anyone over anything I think picking on a rugby player would be at the bottom of any list!! These are the guys who really can make a difference and show that gay and masculine are not opposites
