RuPaul has shared his thoughts on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under in a candid interview with Graham Norton on his talk show.
In Auckland last February, Ru wrapped filming on season two of the Australia-New Zealand version of the show, before it airs later in the year. And discussing the series with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge Graham Norton on his talk show, Ru described the Aussie and Kiwi queens as “very different” to their international sisters.
Asked by Norton about the size of the new season’s studio, Ru replied, “It’s the size of a garage, the studio. “But you’d never know it and we still have fun with the girls. It’s a different type, Australian and Down Under queens are very different but it’s so much fun”.
RuPaul went on, “They’re a little bit more – I’m going to get in trouble for this – they’re a little more ratchet. Which is great. Because I’m married to an Australian and Australians have a great sense of humour. That’s really what it’s all about. We have so much fun.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under wrapped filming in Auckland in February. The new season of the show will stream in Australia on Stan in the coming months.
Expected on the second season’s lineup are Beverly Kills (Brisbane), Hannah Conda (Sydney), Aubrey Haive (Melbourne), Faux Fur (Sydney), Kween Kong (Adelaide), Minnie Cooper (Sydney), Molly Poppinz (Newcastle), and Pomara Fifth (Sydney).
And joining the Aussie performers are New Zealand queens Yuri and Spankie Jackzon.
Aussie comic Rhys Nicholson travelled to Auckland to again join RuPaul and Michelle Visage on the judging panel. Will it be better than season one? What do you think mate?
