Professional Strongman Champion Rob Kearney Comes Out as gay!!! Rob Kearney is one tough dude. In addition to being ranked the 2nd strongest middleweight champ in the world, Kearney also recently became the first openly gay man to be actively competing in a professional level international strongman competition. Kearney shared what the reaction has been like following his coming out: “I knew there would be both negative & positive feedback. To be honest I was surprised from the amount of positive feedback. I got texts and phone calls from a lot of other pros and people high up in the sport I was not expecting. I also knew there would be negative or “indifferent” reactions, but that is ok”. A giant pink condom has been placed on top of a 175-year-old obelisk in Sydney, as part of a campaign to promote safer sex to gay men. Bags containing condoms were also scattered around the structure, bearing the slogan “Test more + treat early + stay safe = ending HIV”. ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill said: “The need for gay men to ‘stay safe’ by using condoms is at the core of NSW’s strategy for eliminating HIV transmission by the end of the decade. We won’t be able to achieve this goal unless gay men use condoms when they’re having high-risk sex with casual partners, particularly in situations where a partner’s HIV status isn’t known – it’s that simple. We need to constantly find new ways to promote this message, especially in the lead up to World AIDS Day on December 1.This installation is sure to create lots of interest as we’ve selected a very visible icon in a high traffic area.“

Kellogg’s is being criticized by anti-gay groups for using family friendly mascot Tony the Tiger in a pro-gay advert.

Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund is embarking on a new partnership with homeless youth service provider Covenant House International to help fight the LGBT homeless youth epidemic. Covenant House, which offers shelter to more than 1,900 homeless youth every night in 27 cities across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua is expanding the overall number of beds dedicated to homeless youth, including LGBT youth. “At the heart of the True Colors Fund’s work is supporting service providers in ensuring the safest and most affirming care possible for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth experiencing homelessness. For us, partnering on this effort is a natural fit and speaks volumes about Covenant House’s commitment to providing the best possible support to all youth,” said Cyndi Lauper, co-founder of the True Colors Fund.
