Saturday the first of May 2021 is it again World Naked Gardening Day. Yes, it’s really a holiday.

This holiday is each first Saturday of May, so this year Saturday, May 1, 2021 will mark the 17th annual World Naked Gardening Day. While I don’t expect this will be observed at the communal city gardens in many cities, I do know lots of people with a private garden or backyard intends to “be at one with nature.

The holiday was started in 2005 by Mark Story in Seattle, WA and has grown into a global phenomenon. “Why garden naked? First of all, it’s fun! Second only to swimming, gardening is at the top of the list of family-friendly activities people are most ready to consider doing nude,” the World Naked Gardening Day website says. “Moreover, our culture needs to move toward a healthy sense of both body acceptance and our relation to the natural environment.”
