Etc etc etc…and the story continues! Pink In Our Lives did already a story about her a few years ago!!!
Links being shared all over Facebook, people commenting…”Finally, she gets what she deserves”, “Wow Whitney came back?”, “The voice of an Angel”, “Let’s go viral with this girl” and “Glennis, where have you been all these years?”
Well….. where have you been Glennis, all these years?
Let’s start from the very beginning. Born as Glenda in Amsterdam. (the Jordaan!) she was just a little girl living on music! (It’s almost a fairytale)
Always singing in her bedroom using a hairbrush as a microphone…(this is in my mind right LOL), with records from Whitney, Mariah etc. Her “calling” for music lead her on stage at a Unicef Gala, age 11 singing with Julio Iglesias (father from Enrique) in Ahoy. Being a huge success!!!
But her big break through came at age 16 she became a National star winning the Sound Mix show, performing Whitney Houston’s song “One moment in time” Later she did work on her skills at the Frank Sanders Academy. In these days releasing a few recordings, some English and some Dutch, few singles came out, but not giving her the big breakthrough she hoped for.
In the year 2005, she gave it all at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with the Song “Impossible Dream”. She was outstanding! All the elements were there, in James Bond, Gladys Knight style, beautiful dress and vocally PERFECT!!! Sadly she got eliminated at the preliminary rounds. In the years ahead, Glennis kept aiming for new music and the world! Mainly producing Dutch songs, and albums.
The biggest breakthrough in Holland came in the year, 2011. She went to France singing for “The best singers from Holland” covering “Afscheid/Goodbye.”from Volumia. Glennis herself was singing at her best! But after it, she was wondering if it was okay enough. The morning after the broadcasting…YouTube exploded, the performance was a HUGE success!!!!
Facebook sharing, twittering, even the papers wrote about Glennis and her overnight stardom. Wider audiences noticing her talent and vocal quality, not only amazing singing but she had IT. Leading to 100’s performances from this song…..and new recordings like albums “One Night only” and “This is my Voice”. Relating to golden, platinum records! Award winnings. But also sold out-concerts for thousands of fans at the Heineken Music Hall. Guest appearances at The Toppers and many more.
Belgium invited her for a onetime occasion at the Anne Awards singing “Afscheid/Goodbye”, the audience rose-up and applauding her being the NEW international star! She gave a concert with her wonderful band in Ostend. Live music, and it was AMAZING! On weekly base she was invited on radio Q-music, promoting her disc “Cover Story”.
In 2015 Glennis visited USA, with her drummer and his band. Presuming, let’s go there and just enjoy LA. Make some music with my guys, no one knows me there, so I have nothing to lose. That became a small understatement. A huge USA fan from Glennis arranged a “small” gig for her at the E spot by Sheila Easton. In the corner of the club sat two important men. Walter Afanasieff and Mervyn Warren. (Managers from the late Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey) That night was magical!!!!
Glennis sung like no other and even did sing “I Believe In You” with Mervyn Warren himself at the piano. A Whitney classic! When Mervyn asked her if she was ready….Glennis answered: ”I was BORN ready!” Contacts were made.
Time passed and a year went by. Glennis flying between LA and Amsterdam working on new music and songs with these producers.
Glennis being a professional musician, and always in contact with her fans she asked what they wanted to hear…on social media/Facebook. A weekly topic “Music Mondays” was launched. The first song she performed was Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons.” Youtube and social media again exploded. Overwhelming! Many hits to be followed after! 
2017, Glennis and the Ladies of Soul….a group formed with the finest vocalists/musicians (Trijntje Oosterhuis, Edsilia Rombley, Berget Lewis and Candy Dulfer) did 3 concerts for the 4th time in a row…full house/sold out!
The concert itself, high quality of music making! But…and this is where the story starts.
Why this sudden hype all over the world about Glennis Grace?
One not SUDDEN…because this hype is going on for years and years. Secondly…she is not a hype, she is a high class musician, who works VERY hard for the music and loves/treasuring her fans. (That is SO true!!!!!!) At Ladies of Soul, there was THAT very special moment.
I Can say this because my Pink In Our Live bosses and I were there! Glennis walked on stage wearing a skintight sequence dress with just a spot on her beautiful persona. Making a tribute to Whitney Houston, who had sadly died 5 years ago…for being the reason she was there tonight. Singing….”Run to you”. And if history was written that moment, Glennis sung every note so beautiful, FLAWLESS!!!!! The energy in the audience was higher than Heaven.
When I looked around me, even noticed people crying and holding each other. This had depth people! After the concerts, fans were asking to launch the song “Run to you” and eventually it was.
As we speak of now, it’s been watched more than 203142 times.
Even Nicki Minaj did share the song….21 million followers have seen it…thanks to Nicki! Fans all over the world agree, she is reminding us about a great legend. America watching out for Glennis, a world career is on the making. It is not just great singing, this is working VERY hard. As Glennis once said about “Afscheid/Goodbye: ” a good song is a good song!”
Glennis quoted on her Facebook account to her fans: “Inner joy and secretly very proud and amazed how much suddenly is happening. This is my dream, and if only people around the world are talking about my voice, then I have already won so much….stay tuned little rascals.” More to COME!
Proud to present on the 8th of October Glennis will perform on the show “Music is my First Love” in Antwerp Belgium at Theater Elckerlyc for Pink In Our Lives and Keulenaer Events. Her amazing Antwerp debut, with many other LGTB loved performers, Zsa Zsa Lamor, Els De Schepper, Vanessa Van Cartier, Michael Lanzo, The Sparkling Diamonds and some very special guests. Show starting at 8PM.
