This year the gay community website Gay.nl organizes for the 7th time the Mister Gay Netherlands election. They are searching for a new role model for young Dutch Gays!!! This Friday will take the Finale Show in Amsterdam in Club Panama place, where the candidates fight for the number one spot! The last election was in 2012 but they are back!!!

From hundreds of gay boys and men who entered the competition eleven candidates were chosen from everywhere in Holland. The winner gets to call himself for one year Mister Gay Netherlands and wins amongst others a cover shoot for Gay & Night Magazine and exposure on the website Gay.nl

The winner will get chosen by public voting, which was made through the website of Gay.nl the last couple of weeks where you could vote for your favorite guy, and by the judges who are present on the Finale Show on the 25th of September 2015.

Although the Dutch Gay community achieved many legal rights like everybody the last years, the acceptance on the street has unfortunately taken a step backwards. No matter the background of heritage, young gays have the right to be out there. Like in the competition in Belgium of Mister Gay Flanders looks are nice, but the guys have to have their own story. It is great to be a feast for our eyes, but they have to be a role model too for the gay society and show that also in our community there are different kind of types and beliefs. Between these finalists are guys who are sero-positive, men who want to have their own child, to be accepted in sports or in their own non-western culture.

Here are the eleven candidates and let us know who is your favorite:

ASHLEY PETERNELLA, 23 years: “People have to adjusted to homosexuality, whether we like it or not”

TOM VAN DEN NIEUWENHIJZE, 33 years: “I would like to give others the feeling that they can be and do whatever they want”.

STEVEN VAN AKELIJEN, 33 years: “Some people think that you can’t raise a child if you are gay”.

LUCAS AGE CRUZ, 22 years: “I want to take away the shame around HIV”.

DEMIS HAEK, 20 years: “I would like to show that “the girly gay guy” is outdated”

BERNARD BROEKMAN, 26 years: “I want to make a fist with sporting gays against homophobia in sports”

ROB LOEFFEN, 20 years: “ I hope to achieve something big with this competition”.

JELLE KOUDSTAAL, 26 years: “I would like to be the shoulder where other gays can lean on”.

JORDY BOUWMANS, 19 years: “ I want to help other gays who are insecure”.

ERWIN SWIERS, 20 years: “ people who judge don’t define not who you are”
