Boomer Banks might be best known as a porn star but really he’s a fashion designer. When they heard about his 
collaboration with the downtown brand and club kid Fave BCalla, Paper Magazine dropped at the chance to shoot him wearing it. And since their photographer was Matthias Vriens-McGrath, who is currently working on a follow-up to the Big Penis Book for Taschen, they asked Boomer to bring some of his friends along for some good old-fashioned NSFW fun. Boomer Banks recalls eagerly watching his mom working away as a seamstress, reconstructing garments to make them uniquely their own. That’s where his interest in fashion design started, when he was a young boy.
Fast-forward in time, Boomer Banks has grown up and has exploring the world of fashion, carving out a name for
himself in New York City. He knew he had to do something different to really help make him stand out from all the other designers. Everyone has his or her own reason for getting into the scandalous world of the adult entertainment industry. People turn to porn to help fund their way through university, explore their sexuality, or use it as a creative outlet. Whatever the reason, it’s personal and with purpose. For most, it’s not an easy decision because of the consequences it could have on their future, but for some, it opens up new doors of opportunity.
“It wasn’t until I was working with a designer friend of mine, Johnny Sakalis, that I got excited about it,” Boomer Banks said in an interview, describing how he got the idea to consider working in the gay porn industry. “It felt natural. All my career in fashion has been working for other designers. I got into porn to brand myself like Anna Nicole, Jenna Jameson, and Kim Kardashian. Sex sell. It can totally work to my advantage doing just that. I’m a fashion designer who happens to do porn. That pretty much sums it up for me. I’ve always been told that I’m sexy. I didn’t embrace it for a long time.”
Most people who work in the adult entertainment industry are pretty clear, you have to have a full time career, and porn is something that you do on the side. This is exactly what Boomer Banks is doing, and it’s working to his advantage. And we are glad he does, because we can enjoy both sides of him!!!
