A BITE OUT OF OUR PINK WORLD www.pinkinourlives.com
Hunky newsman Thomas Roberts made history over the weekend of the 18th of July when he became the first openly gay person to anchor a network evening news broadcast.
Thomas hosted NBC’s Nightly News on NBC, a major US TV network. He regularly hosts “MSNBC Live With Thomas Roberts” as well as “OutThere”, a weekly online show on LGBTI issues.
He told Magazine The Advocate that it was a “huge honor” to anchor the program. His lead story in the broadcast centered on Donald Trump’s negative comments about John McCain. Incidentally, Roberts was set to co-host the Miss USA pageant until he dropped out following the flap over Trump’s remarks about Mexican immigrants.
Thomas Albert Roberts (born October 5, 1972) is an American television journalist who, since April 2010, has served as a news anchor for MSNBC, a cable-news channel. The veteran journalist came out back in 2006 and on June 25, 2011, one day after same-sex marriage in New York was legalized, Roberts announced his engagement to the handsome Patrick Abner on his Twitter page. The couple got married on September 29, 2012.
There are a few LGBTI evening news anchors on cable TV – notably MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon – but Roberts was the first for one of the big three networks.
Thomas Roberts certainly gave the NBC viewers an extra reason to watch the news!!!
