A BITE OUT OF OUR PINK WORLD www.pinkinourlives.com
A new photography project is highlighting the journey that LGBT people face before and after coming out and it is called
#OUTCOME
“#Outcome depicts a variety of LGBT people from all walks of life. The participants each hold a photograph of themselves as a child in the images “to help illustrate their journey from the child they were to the adult they’ve become,” says Tom Dingley, the photographer behind #Outcome.
Tom has always been someone who is creative, he has found his love of capturing moments through the camera, injecting narrative into a single shot. With this Project #outcome he wanted to show that you have to dream big and anything can happen even when you belong to the LGBT community. Portraits of people from the LGBT community, each holding a photograph of themselves as a child and portraying them as their current selves, wearing what they wear for work, or with a tool/accessory to represent their profession, hobby or passion.
“There’s a rich and varied life out there for LGBT people, they just have to make their own way in the world like everyone else! #Outcome is a great way of showing that there’s a myriad of opportunities out there for everyone – so dare to dream big!”, says Tom Dingley.
Examples:
La Voix! International & critically acclaimed drag diva – I was honoured and privileged to get the opportunity to photograph her as part of my project. Thankfully to a local gig we arranged a shoot – marching her in full drag through Greenwich Market to my studio, being a highlight. The actual shoot was swift but we managed to do a variety of poses and looks, giving me plenty to edit. I really love this portrait with camp, sophistication & entertainment. You will recognise La Voix from Britain’s Got Talent as a semi-finalist as well as winning top Drag Awards for her act. Coming soon to Panto for 2014 and gunning to represent the UK at Eurovision, please give her your support! #LaVoix4Eurovision!
Kayden Gray, an adult performer and model saw my tweets about Outcome and was keen to be involved. He likes to promote equality & be involved with such projects. All aspects of the LGBT community are important, including the adult industry.
Phillip Anthony – or stage name ‘Phil Ingud’ is without doubt involved in entertainment. He is an emerging talent in male burlesque – or Boylesque! Found at Soho’s Burlesque Club & in Boylexe, London. Also found occasionally shaking his tush at ‘Wam Bam! With crystallised costumes and feather fans to make an impact this Outcome portrait definitely shows more of a camp, fun, cabaret & entertaining personality.
A second test shoot was needed, Myles Dobson, working in the media industry, model and host at the Adonis Cabaret Show, Myles was keen to have an Outcome portrait. We had been talking about photos for a while and now was the time to get together.Posed in his Adonis vest top – which is alot more clothing than you would normally find at Adonis Cabaret! The muscly look Adonis Cabaret is known for, shows just how much Myles has grown up since early teens.
Stephen Crowe, a fashion & beauty editor of The Gay Uk, got in touch to arrange for a shoot. As a model too, he was keen to get involved. At the time, he had reviewed plenty of underwear so this based the theme of the shoot. We didn’t count how many pairs of underwear feature in the photo, but it was a lot!
