The winners of the OutTv Media Awards 2016 for Media Personalities Of The Year are finally known and for Holland is that famous dragqueen Diva May Day and for Belgium is that Mister Gay Belgium AND Mister Gay Europe Raf van Puymbroeck.

Through the website of OutTv could everybody vote for many different nominees and many people have

voted over the last few weeks. Both winners got surprised by OutTv presenters Martijn Tulp and René Emmerink and both got the “tolerance kitten” from Belgian artist Hannes D’haese. This kittycat got sent last year to the Russian president Poetin as protest against to the anti-gay law in Russia. This inspired OutTv to give this kind of award to their winners.

Martijn gave the award to May Day, who was happily surprised and thought that Ellie Lust from the police would win the award. Diva May Day got the Award for her protest against the way and form that The Human Rights Concert in Amsterdam for EuroPride was broadcast on TV. The complete message of Equal Rights and Freedom got lost in that footage. A lot of people agreed with her and thanks to her guts and commitment the concert got shown again, but then in FULL footage like it was taped that day.

René surprised Raf van Puymbroeck at his teaching dance class last Thursday evening. This came out of the blue for Raf, he didn’t expected it at all. He told René that it meant a great deal to him, because with the organization of Mister Gay Belgium they do a lot for the LGBT community. “This award is a confirmation that we are doing good work and that we have to keep up the good work namely spreading the message from love and acceptation, told Raf.. He was not only nominated for winning his titles of Mister Gay Belgium and Europe, but also for his effort for acceptation for LGBT people in the sports world.

Raf and May day are now closing the list of previous winners like Conchita Wurst, prime Minister Charles Michel, Boris Dittrich and Ferry Doedens & Sinan Eroglu.
