Billy Eichner is making history with one of the gayest movies of all time #PinkInOurLives

Billy Eichner’s queer romantic comedy Bros is set to make history when it hits cinemas this September.

Featuring an all-star cast Bros will be the first gay romantic comedy from a major studio. Even better? The films stars are all LGBTIQA+ actors, including Drag Race star Symone.

There are a lot of reasons to celebrate this upcoming release by Billy Eichner.

Above all else, Bros is another mainstream queer release and we can never have enough queer film. Films like Love, Simon, Call Me By Your Name and Moonlight have helped pave the way. Recent films like Single All The Way and Christmas On The Farm have seen the streaming market reach out to embrace queer films.

However, Bros is being released by Universal Studios next year. This will make it the first gay romantic comedy being released by a major studio. Billy Eichner stars in the film with Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters) playing opposite him as his love interest. Together they play “two gay men maybe, possibly, probably stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.”

Bros is set to be a hilarious and heartwarming comedy that is once again making new waves in mainstream cinema. What is perhaps most unique about Bros, is not that it is a queer film, but an entirely queer cast. All of the leading actors, even those playing straight characters are all members of the LGBTIQA+ community and there are some iconic names. Being able to cast so many queer actors in leading roles in a queer film was important to creator Billy Eichner. “Queer actors have spent decades watching straight actors capitalize both artistically and professionally by playing LGBTQ+ characters. It is a long overdue dream come true to be able to assemble this remarkable, hilarious cast.”

Whilst Eichner and Macfarlane will play the leading characters there are many more familiar faces in the cast. Iconic winner of Rupaul’s Drag Race season 13 Symone will be appearing in the film in a yet to be named role.

Trailblazing lesbian actress Amanda Bears (Married with Children) will play Macfarlanes mother. Guillermo Diaz is another familiar face, this star of Weeds and Scandal is an iconic addition. Joining this stellar cast is Bowen Yang of SNL, Hairspray legend Harvey Fierstein and superstar TS Madison.

Bros is set for release in September 2022.
