Drag Race royalty Alyssa Edwards will be back on our screens sooner than expected. While it’s unlikely that the All Stars alum will be competing on the show that made her famous again anytime soon, the Texas drag star is coming to Netflix. She already told us one year ago it was in the making and that she starred in her own series and now it is finally here!!!
Netflix announced that Alyssa Edwards will be starring in “Dancing Queen”, a docu-series following the star as she juggles her drag career, family life, romance and more. The series is was filmed in the star’s hometown of Mesquite, TX and will also give a peak into the drag performer’s Beyond Belief Dance Company, where she prepares a young class of dancers for an intense, competitive season.
Dancing Queen seems like an extremely good combination of Drag Race and Dance Moms, with some of Queer Eye’s weightier elements mixed in, if that harrowing “why did you tell me my life was an abomination?” line is any indication.
Alyssa Edwards, who is known as Justin Johnson out of drag, serves as producer of the World of Wonder production, with Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, Roy Orecchio and RuPaul Charles all listed as executive producers. The first season will see eight 45-minute episodes launching globally on Netflix on Oct. 5.
The queen you know. The stories you don’t!!!
