A bit more than a few months ago it was the sixth edition of Milkshake Festival Amsterdam, but it was only the second time with a two days-weekend full of dancing, entertainment, great music and colorful stages. And you know what…. the ticket sale for the Early Flirt weekend tickets go online this Thursday February 1st at 12:00 in the afternoon!!!
After this Festival, Prides Amsterdam and Antwerp, Circuit Barcelona, WinterPride Maspalomas and some vacation time, we have finally the time to tell you our experience and bringing it on boys and girls for all who just love. Pink In Our Lives was so lucky to experience the complete weekend for the first time and see if there was a difference between Saturday and Sunday.
Besides the weather difference you could feel a difference and not because of the organization or the choices of stages, but you could see that there were more straight people on Saturday than on Sunday. This is not a bad thing at all and everybody made each other feel welcome and allowed you to be yourself. But I think for the LGBTI community the Sunday feels more like catching up with your friends and having a great time for them, because there are more familiar faces to see back on that day.
For us at Pink In Our Lives it was fun to see on both days all the different stages, performances and most of all the fantastic creatures of human kind. It didn’t matter if you had fabulous clothes, hunky bodies, crazy outfits or even no clothes on, everybody was allowed to have fun and treated each other with respect. Like at a good festival it should be, because all we all want is to have a great time and experience.
Many features of Milkshake came back this year from previous editions, but also some surprises like new stages (for example Sexy from Cologne and Damage from Mister B.), special Foodtrucks and entertainment were here this weekend. You wanted to be everywhere at the same time and didn’t want to miss anything, so we decided to dance around from stage to stage and hopefully pick up every amazing vibe.
Saturday it was unfortunate that the weather from around 7PM got terrible and it hadn’t stop raining from that hour till the end. It wasn’t enjoyable after three hours, three ponchos and soaking wet shoes, so we left this time a bit early. Because we wanted to be fresh for the next day (read: having too much alcohol in our blood), we didn’t went to the Milkshake Afterparty, but who knows next year?!?!
Sunday looked terrible in the morning, but around 14.00 the sun came out and the rain stayed away the rest of the day. So back with our own singlets, Pink In Our Lives caps and our camera again, we mixed in the crowds to get more sunnier pictures. We got to see also more familiar faces and friends from all over the world that day having a great time. People from Belgium, Germany, UK, Spain, USA and off course The Netherlands. It is great to see so many nations, friends, women and men and cultures partying together.
Like the organization says some people wish it was Milkshake every day, so just start with the following steps:
<3 be kind to everybody you see
<3 help other human beings more often
<3 try to see the beauty of life
<3 be who you are
<3 never hurt anybody mentally or physically
<3 always choose quality over quantity, the basic rule of life.
Our thoughts exactly and that is where Pink In Our Lives is based on. Do your own loving Milkshake every day and make it extra special each year at the end of July in Amsterdam together, so that we don’t get used and bored with it. Thank you Milkshake Festival for having us and we will see you all next year!!! Look us up at www.facebook.com/pinkinourlives for our picture album and who knows you are in it!!!
