A new year, a new brand name!!! It is time again as we showed you in February for a new edition of Mister Gay Belgium (formerly known as Mister Gay Flanders). The twelve contestants for 2016 are known for the public and are looking forward to take over the reign of mister Gay Flanders 2015 Skelte Willems. They have their own message to bring out to the world and show why they should be named as Mister Gay Belgium 2016 at the 28th of May in Antwerp. Time for PINK IN OUR LIVES to put all candidates separately in the spotlight and give a taste of who they are. The first candidate is Sidney Demeulemeester.
Sidney Demeulemeester is 29 years old and is living in Torhout. He did his coming out in 2005 and his project is about “Discrimination at the work floor”.
WAS YOUR COMING OUT EASIER OR MORE DIFFICULT THAN EXPECTED AND WHY?
“More difficult than expected, because my stepfather was not so gay-minded during those years. Nowadays this has changed luckily” ;o)
WHO IS YOUR BIG IDOL/SEX SYMBOL OR GREAT EXAMPLE AND WHY?
“Belgian actor Louis Tape, because he has everything you can wish for in a person”.
WHY IS YOUR THEME/PROBLEM SO IMPORTANT?
“It is important, because there is still a big taboo about harassment and to be laughed at work And whether your gay, a lesbian, bisexual or transgender , you have to feel happy at work. Our job is a very important thing in our lives , because most of our hours, days and years we spend at our work. If you can’t be yourself there, where can we be? You will be very unhappy and that is why this is my theme!!!”
WHAT IS YOUR BEST AND WORST QUALITY?
“My best quality is that I will be there for everybody to help wherever I can.
“My worst quality is that I can be very stubborn”.
TELL US A SECRET ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?
“My secret is that I always wanted to be a girl when I was young”.
WHAT WILL YOUR FUTURE LOOK LIKE IN TEN YEARS?
“In ten years I hope I can say that I have a thriving hotel and catering industry”.
